Improvement in clearing of shipping containers following complaints last week adminBlog 11Oct Share Following complaints by the Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association that the processing of shipping containers had been delayed resulting in its members having to pay increased fees, the port extended business hours late last week to clear the backlog. Mitzie Gordon Burke-Green, President of the Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association, told RJR News on Sunday night that the situation had improved, after the authorities extended the processing of containers by two hours on Thursday and Friday, and a full day on Saturday. On Tuesday, the Association reported a pending crisis because of the delay in clearing of shipping containers, which was getting worse due to operational changes at the port.
